The headline is deceptive, it might not make a person rich wealthy, however can definately help save you some cash :)
Last time I touched in brief on the top golden rule of traveling - Travel light. Also I requested you to look at money belt paying attention to the first golden rule. I do hope you did that & narrowed down your current list.
The very first foreign vacation I ever took with the family was when I was Fourteen. The vacation destination was India and this was in the late 80s. My dad was a military colonel and mum had a small chain of book shops. While mom and dad started out planning for the vacation nearly Six months in advance, we read about the different places we would check out each day. The second golden rule for holiday travel is you got it - Plan in Advance!
Dad organized everything with mom using his military accuracy, checklists were created, duties were allotted to me and my sister (who was older by Three years) 6 months prior to we're to travel. We made Three checklists
General checklist - In which all the stuff that everybody would require and utilize was listed (toothpaste, nail clipper and so on)
Emergency List - Where prescribed medicines, emergency numbers etc were listed
Individual Checklist - In which our own individual things that we'd like to carry were outlined (man! this list was enormous!!!)
And then there were the tasks checklist. My dad would do the flights, visa, authorization for him to travel (he was serving then), Mum would take care of the prescription medicines, visits to the doctor, clothing, I and Emily were required to learn about places we wanted to visit. All Emily wanted to do was see snake charmers & princes (: )!!), me I wanted to look at the Mt Everest & ride elephants. We were so far removed from reality (well to some extent far!)
The point I am stressing here is, in case you are traveling overseas for a family trip, plan as soon as possible. Write everything down in 2-3 lists then start weeding things that are not required. I am sure you don't have to bring Five different kinds of moisturiser. You'll need a sunscreen lotion and a moisturizer.
We're given only 2 bags; I had a duffel plus a little backpack. Planning this early, resulted us in completing all our holiday requirements and bag shopping at the time of sales. This way I assume we saved almost 40% of what we might have paid had we all waited till the eleventh hour. Now you realise why I sent you to money belts
This great site is all about travel needs and is my current favorite. Within a thirty day period I have saved near $800 on backpacks and also other vacation need items.
Getting back lets summarize both travel rules we've learnt up to now
Plan in Advance
& save money where ever you are able to! Until the next one, dream of your upcoming family trip!
